    This is a comprehensive curriculum that covers the anatomy and physiology of birth, stages of labour, medications and interventions, the hours immediately following birth, and so much more.

    You’ll find that this class is engaging, interactive, and thorough, leaving both you and your partner confident and prepared: gaining a greater understanding of the birth process, practicing strategies and techniques for comfort and coping during labour, and uncovering and demystifying fears and concerns leading up to your big day.

After welcoming her own beautiful babies into the world, this work was a natural extension of the reverence she’s always had for birth, women, families, and the sacred passage into parenthood. Andrea began her journey into the Birth work in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. In addition to attending births and teaching classes, Andrea facilitates a community postpartum group, offers in-home postpartum support, and provides certified, professional placenta encapsulation through her business, In Bloom Births.

    Grief Support for Those Who Have Lost Someone they Love to Overdose

    This free-of-charge grief support group is offered in partnership between Comox Valley Hospice Society and Nourish Wellness.   While this group is run on a bi-weekly, drop-in basis, first time attendees must phone either Paula Purcell or Nicole Burgess for location and additional participation information.

    This shared support can help you survive the stigma, silence and sorrow.

  • Yoga and the Neurological System 10am-2pm

    This course is open to anyone wanting to understand yoga and its effects on the neurological system in relation to rehabilitation, stress reduction, chronic pain, and neuro-muscular facilitation

    4-5 hour course including an optional yoga practice to wrap up the day.

    About:

    Why is the neurological system so important when looking at the effects of yoga on the whole body?

    Sensations from internal and external stimulus are perceived, interpreted, and responded to, by our neurological system. Some of these responses are done consciously, and others unconsciously. This perception and response to stimulus is vital for homeostasis within the body, and makes up our experiences- pain, pleasure, memories, learning, self awareness and so much more. What if we knew we could use intentional movement and meditation to effect the neurological system, therefore effecting our experiences- pain, pleasure, memories, learning, self awareness and so much more? How can we share this practice with others to help them free themselves from pain, experience pleasure more easily, face and release painful memory, fortify new memories (habits/patterns) fortify new learning (thought patterns, muscle memory) and empower self awareness with self love and nurturing?

    Facilitator: Jada Muehlenberg, RMT, RYT200

    Jada is the founder of Yogascience.ca. She lives on the Southwest Coast of Vancouver Island where she practices Massage Therapy in a physiotherapy clinic. She is a mother of two, a student of the health sciences, and a lover of all things nature. “When I started practicing yoga,Iwas looking for a deeper connection to my physical body, as I had shifted into planning for motherhood and wanted to prepare my body for what pregnancy would bring. I never imagined how profound the practice would be for me, not just physically, but spiritually” Jada continued with her personal practice for many years before taking her first Teacher Training. “It was in my first training that I recognized the powerful platform yoga had given me for my personal transformation.” She continued to study Patanjali’s Sutras and the 8-limbed path, and continues to be a student in her own Yoga practice and lifestyle. “It has given me an endless learning path, one that leads to more clarity and balance.” Jada provides a grounded, safe space for her students to look deeper within themselves, and empowers her students to connect with the body’s innate desire to heal itself. Her Teachings focus on evidence based information, but do not lack the intangible magic and spirit that is yoga.
