Trauma Center – Trauma Sensitive Yoga Workshop
This 20 hr (15 contact hours) workshop is designed for yoga teachers, mental health care professionals, and health care providers who want to apply a trauma informed lens using the evidence-based techniques of Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). This training is beneficial for healing professions supporting trauma survivors in journey of recovery.
* Note: you DO NOT need to be a certified yoga instructor to attend.
This anti-oppressive approach to healing supports recovery from individual and collective long-term trauma through movement, present moment experiences and choice.
The generative training will provide tools for understanding the impacts of stress and trauma on the nervous system and how this practice could facilitate peace building from within, through mending bodies and nervous systems. Participants will learn to foster this anti-oppressive approach to healing through the application of a trauma-informed lens. Developing an understanding of complex trauma, attachment theory, and the neuroscience underpinning the TCTSY methodology, participants foster skills to facilitate a movement and breath practice that could support healing from long term trauma.
TCTSY is an adjunct treatment grounded in the western medical model with robust research demonstrating successful outcomes for those with treatment resistant Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This is the only yoga technique registered as an evidence based practice with Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) in the United States.
This training is the pre-requisite required to apply for the 300-hr TCTSY Certification Program with the Trauma Center.
Please prioritize a plan for self care throughout the weekend of the training. This training is being offered in a location where connection with nature is accessible which can supportive for one’s nervous system. This connection is valuable because the training can be demanding and it is supportive to create space for integration and digestion of material. There is the possibility of being triggered by material or content that might come up in discussions, therefore please come prepared with tools and resources that support your nervous system.

Nicola Mosley MSW, RSW, E-RYT, TCTSY-F and Faculty Member of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment.
As a passionate yoga practitioner, Nicola integrated yoga with her Masters in Social Work. Her practicum led to studying Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) in Boston at the Trauma Center. Learning with David Emerson, Director of Yoga Services and co-author of the book ‘Overcoming Trauma Through Yoga’ inspired her to keep developing her understanding and teaching this technique. She become a certified TCTSY Facilitator after the 300 hr certification in 2014 and has had the fortunate opportunity to work as a Faculty Member of the Trauma Center since then.
Nicola is a registered social worker (RSW) offering trainings within Western North America and Canada, as well as private TCTSY sessions and classes. In addition, she integrates yoga into wilderness expeditions to support therapeutic experiences and opportunities for healing, as well as within clinical settings.

This 12 week groups is for moms with a child under 2 years old, struggling with postpartum depression/anxiety/adjustment. This is a self-help support group in which different topics such as depression, anxiety, anger, healthy boundaries, relationships and transition/adjustment will be addressed. The group is closed (not open to drop-ins) and confidential. It is limited to 10 participants.

Every Thursday afternoon from 5:00 to 6:00pm at Nourish Wellness in Comox, join other ‘Qi Transformers’ as you practice the simple, gentle movements of this meditative practice.
You will find that practicing in a group magnifies the energy and furthers the healing!
Drop-in rate is $12/practice. 6-visit cards available for a special rate of $50. Drop-in can be paid at the class. Registration is required for the special rate. After registration, you will receive your card at the class.
All are welcome! No experience necessary. Dress comfortably. Chairs are provided for the seated meditation at the end but you are welcome to bring a cushion, blanket or your own yoga mat if you would like to do the meditation lying down.

This is a 2-day class! It is a 2-level training (First and Second Degree) of the Usui/Holy Fire II system of Reiki from the International Center for Reiki Training and is considered to be one of the most comprehensive beginner trainings of its kind! All are welcome. No prior experience is necessary for First Degree on Day #1, however, registration for both days is required to receive the weekend rate.
It is taught by Barb Timmer, 15-year veteran of all things Reiki, Usui/Holy Fire II, Karuna Reiki®Master/Teacher and Professional Member of the Reiki Membership Association. She has been practicing for 15 years, more than 12 of those as a Master/Teacher having received her first Master training in the Usui/Tibetan tradition in 2006, her Holy Fire II Karuna Master training in March 2016 and again, another Usui/Holy Fire II Master training in August 2017. She is also a certified reflexologist and avid spreader of Qi joy through the practice of Spring Forest Qigong.
