    Class description: Introduction to Somatics

    You will be introduced to fundamental movements that reconnect your brain to your muscles. Through the practice of deep breathing techniques and mindful awareness you will discover areas of your body that are stuck in something called sensory motor amnesia, a chronically tight state in the muscles. You will be gently guided to unlock these patterns and feel a renewed sense of ease and comfort in these muscles. Your mind and body will relax and you will walk out feeling a renewed vitality to take on your life once again!

    This class is suitable for all ages and abilities.

    A style of yoga open to everyone of all ages and abilities. Focus on moving with awareness, find stillness within the poses, engage in watching the interaction between body and mind. Strengthen your body, develop/maintain flexibility and balance. Incorporate simple meditation/breathing techniques and benefit from deep relaxation. A practice with the potential to stay with you, expanding beyond the mat sustaining daily life.

    This is a 2-day class! It is a 2-level training (First and Second Degree) of the Usui/Holy Fire II system of Reiki from the International Center for Reiki Training and is considered to be one of the most comprehensive beginner trainings of its kind! All are welcome. No prior experience is necessary for First Degree on Day #1, however, registration for both days is required to receive the weekend rate.

    It is taught by Barb Timmer, 15-year veteran of all things Reiki, Usui/Holy Fire II, Karuna Reiki®Master/Teacher and Professional Member of the Reiki Membership Association. She has been practicing for 15 years, more than 12 of those as a Master/Teacher having received her first Master training in the Usui/Tibetan tradition in 2006, her Holy Fire II Karuna Master training in March 2016 and again, another Usui/Holy Fire II Master training in August 2017. She is also a certified reflexologist and avid spreader of Qi joy through the practice of Spring Forest Qigong.

    Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique for relaxation, stress reduction and inner balance that can also promote healing on many levels including physical, mental and emotional. It works with Universal Life Force Energy to clear and balance the energy fields of your body bringing calm to body/mind and clarity to your thinking. Reiki increases a person’s own supply of life force energy and provides a deep relaxation to the mind/body which can add to the healing process.

    Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki is a new Reiki for today’s stressful times. This newer system of Reiki combines the original system of Usui Reiki with a newer, more refined Reiki that is of a higher, vibrational energy. It heals through purification, healing, empowerment and guidance. The complete system includes the four Reiki symbols from the Usui tradition as well as the Holy Fire master symbol. Enlightenment and powerful transformation can be two side effects of learning to channel this beautiful, gentle yet powerful energy!

    The use of the word holy in the name Holy Fire II is not intended to have a religious meaning. The word holy has as its root meaning to be whole and complete and this is how it is used in Holy Fire II.     Combining yin and restorative yoga poses, this gentle and relaxing practice is excellent for those new to yoga, students working with injuries, and is a great compliment to more active yoga practices. In holding poses for longer periods of time, students are encouraged to turn in, let go, and restore. Leave each class with less tension in your muscles, more movement in your joints, and a deeper sense of calm in your body, mind, and spirit.

Her style of teaching has grown and evolved over the years and includes various breathing and cleansing exercises to purify the body and soul. Every class with Daiana is unique as she plans around the level of the students.

    Grief Support for Those Who Have Lost Someone they Love to Overdose

    This free-of-charge grief support group is offered in partnership between Comox Valley Hospice Society and Nourish Wellness.   While this group is run on a bi-weekly, drop-in basis, first time attendees must phone either Paula Purcell or Nicole Burgess for location and additional participation information.

    This shared support can help you survive the stigma, silence and sorrow.

    Hatha Yoga 1-2 is a progressive series of classes designed to build strength and flexibility in the body while developing mindful awareness in each posture.
