    This class will provide space for safely strengthening and stretching the body while weaving in yogic philosophy.  Participants will be led through mindful movement and yoga postures in addition to breath awareness and opportunities for moments of stillness. An exploration of yogic philosophy will be woven into each class .     The term “somatic” refers to our inner experience of our mind-bodies.  In these somatic movement classes we explore slow gentle movement patterns, with a focus on sensing ourselves from the inside.  As we bring more awareness to HOW we move, we experience improved ease, flexibility, balance, coordination and strength.  At the same time we learn a lot about our whole selves and our habits!

    A meditation retreat with Margo McLoughlin.

    This retreat is the third in a series of five workshops exploring the Five Spiritual Faculties: faith, energy, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom. Each of us has the potential to awaken and develop these beautiful qualities of mind and heart.

    In this retreat, we’ll draw on the Buddha’s famous discourse, the Discourse on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, with a particular emphasis on the first of these foundations–mindfulness of the body. The Buddha’s teachings encourage us to see the great potential for insight in fearlessly meeting our experience of embodiment, with all the pleasure and pain that implies. Over the course of this retreat, Margo will also share stories of the early Buddhist nuns, whose lives demonstrate the many ways that we learn and grow by accepting and caring for this fragile human form.

    A meditation retreat with Margo McLoughlin.

    This retreat is the third in a series of five workshops exploring the Five Spiritual Faculties: faith, energy, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom. Each of us has the potential to awaken and develop these beautiful qualities of mind and heart.

    In this retreat, we’ll draw on the Buddha’s famous discourse, the Discourse on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, with a particular emphasis on the first of these foundations–mindfulness of the body. The Buddha’s teachings encourage us to see the great potential for insight in fearlessly meeting our experience of embodiment, with all the pleasure and pain that implies. Over the course of this retreat, Margo will also share stories of the early Buddhist nuns, whose lives demonstrate the many ways that we learn and grow by accepting and caring for this fragile human form.

    Yogaahhh with Sheron Jutila

    A blend of Restorative & Yin. We’ll find delightful ways of opening the body by melting into the floor and draping ourselves over bolsters. Deeply nourishing and calming. Includes floor poses (seated, belly, back). Options will be given for all poses so you can decide if you want a deeper yin-like focus to your practice or if you want to just relax to the max via restorative. We will end practice with a slightly longer than usual, luscious guided relaxation/meditation to help you float on a sea of bliss.

    Somatic Movement with Susan Cook

    The term “somatic” refers to our inner experience of our mind-bodies.  In these somatic movement classes we explore slow gentle movement patterns, with a focus on sensing ourselves from the inside.  As we bring more awareness to HOW we move, we experience improved ease, flexibility, balance, coordination and strength.  At the same time we learn a lot about our whole selves and our habits!

    These classes are designed for people with some previous experience in somatics or yoga.

    Yoga Fusion with Gwen Brown

    Slow and strong yoga flows that will build strength and flexibility. Series will focus on spinal undulations, breathing exercises and building core and leg strength in postures. I play inspirational music during my classes and open with a mantra to Tara for compassion and peace. Previous yoga experience recommended but will modify for beginners.

    January class schedule:
    Jan 10 – Slow and strong flow for core strength to focus on iniating all movements from the inner core and root lock
    Jan 17 – Slow flow to focus on strengthening the legs to build stamina and flexibility
    Jan 24 – Yoga belly Dance fusion- Yoga flow to warm up then practice body isolations of abdomen, hips, shoulder and hands with simple choreography and music
    Jan 31 – Slow flow focusing on arm balances and core strength
