Yoga Session: Restoration with Heather Evans

As we transition from late Autumn into Winter, this Restorative Yoga practice gives us the chance to ground ourselves – restoring body, soul, and mind.

Restorative Yoga uses a number of props and is designed to bring the body and mind into deep relaxation.  In other words, you should not be working at all!  This practice is designed to keep the body warm and comfortable and enables us to access deeper levels of awareness as the mind is given permission to go wherever it chooses (falling asleep often happens as the dream state is where so many levels of our consciousness can be accessed).  Forms are held from 10-30 minutes at a time to allow for the deepest relaxation possible…it’s a beautiful practice.

This form of yoga is perfect during this Vata time of year – it is colder and crisper and our systems (in rhythm with nature) crave slower, quieter, and softer forms of practice.
