Janet Haigh, C-IAYT, Yoga Therapist
An experienced yoga therapist and yoga teacher who has taught students ranging from teenagers to senior adults, I am a graduate of the Vancouver School of Healing Arts’ Advanced Yoga Therapy course. Previously a high school English literature teacher abroad, now a fully certified IAYT Yoga Therapist, I have lived in different countries within Asia, Africa and the Middle East. I now proudly call Comox my home, and humbly acknowledge the privilege it is to reside, work and play here on the unceded ancestral homelands of the K’omoks First Nation peoples of Turtle Island.
I have witnessed loved ones battle various diseases, grief, and recover from serious invasive surgery. Consequently, my primary interest as a Yoga Therapist is to offer trauma-informed, restorative yoga to patients, caregivers, survivors, teachers, first responders, clergy and others who assist fellow human beings. I also currently offer private one-to-one yoga therapy, TSY and chair-based classes to folks who may not feel best served by typical mainstream yoga studio classes.
I welcome opportunities to offer joyful service as a trauma-sensitive Yoga Therapist and small-class Yoga Teacher to help you achieve your individual and specific wellness goals. I work with kindness, curiosity and gentle open-mindedness to assist you in discovering the healing benefits of yoga: anxiety reduction, balanced energy levels, increased resilience, stress relief, greater flexibility, and fitness of mind, body and spirit. Whether we use a mat, a chair, or other means, I firmly believe there is blue sky within each of us to reclaim and bask beneath … care to explore more of it together?
